Not Books is an exhibition by ISIA Roma students that rethinks the book as a space of research and experimentation. Instead of being a finished object, the book becomes a process, something that questions, provokes, and opens up new ways of reading and perceiving.
The works unfold through performative actions where books act as protagonists. They generate encounters, voices, and collective gestures, transforming into active presences that embody stories rather than simply containing them.
To narrate the project beyond the exhibition space, we designed three printed artifacts: posters that capture the spirit of the show, postcards that circulate its information in a more intimate format, and a brochure that documents the works in depth, offering insights into both content and process.
Alongside the printed materials, a set of digital contents was created for social platforms. These short visual and textual fragments extend the exhibition into the online realm, amplifying the students’ voices and allowing the research to be shared, remixed, and re-experienced by a wider audience.
